Hi there. I’m Kevin Grubb.

I am a New York-based innovation and design leader with experience leading large teams to achieve measurable commercial impact.

I rally people around the power of design.

Design is powerful—but often misunderstood or overlooked.

“We don’t need pretty slides; we need results!”

That’s where I come in. I lead design at the intersection of business, technology, and the customer, championing it as a tool to solve the most pressing problems through efficient and effective processes. I build relationships across organizations, meeting stakeholders where they are, listening to their needs, and crafting approaches to help them reach their goals.

In other words, I “design the design” process—showing people firsthand the transformative power and impact of this approach.

I empower my team to articulate and defend their work through clear, compelling business cases.
I teach those around me to use design tools in practical, meaningful ways.
And I remain endlessly curious about the business challenges my colleagues face.

Indeed, we don’t need pretty slides. We need a systematic way to tackle ambiguity. We need methods to ensure that the value we create is desirable, viable, and feasible. We need tools to stay agile in the face of ever-changing technologies, customer expectations, and regulations.

We need design.

What do I do?

  • Lead

I lead teams of designers, data scientists, business experts and technology stakeholders to deliver new products, services and business models. I cultivate and empower talent and ensure everyone is aligned around the key problems.

  • Advocate

I “apply design to design.” I engage stakeholders to help them understand the short- and long-term benefits of design thinking methodology. I help stakeholders identify and crystallize their most important problems, and show that design isn’t an ethereal and fuzzy concept — it’s a logical framework for solving real challenges.

  • Execute

Though much of my time is spent leading multiple design teams, I also remain a keen practitioner of the craft of design. From facilitation to co-creation of key design artifacts, I strive to keep my design skills sharp — and challenge my team to do the same.
